Hi! I'm Kat and I don't understand.
As obsessive fandom-y as I am (Doctor Who being my #1), I am only good with the words. That's about it. Making things that are pretty is scary and unknown to me including icons, gifs, and more. SO I'm going to use this journal to post my Doctor Who fics, and I suppose other writing if I'm feeling bold/crazy. I have the same username at AO3 and Teaspoon and an Open Mind, and I'm probably just going to post everything everywhere and uniformly. If I try to get creative and do different things on different sites, I'm gonna get overwhelmed. Also, I'll feel guilty when I inevitably neglect them.
So anyway, my neuroticism aside I will say hello, please enjoy things I write, and please feel free to help me, you know, learn the internet. I'm like Clara Oswald before the spoonheads got a hold of her.
It's nice to meet you! Feel free to (friend? follow? I don't know) keep in touch with me and I hope to meet a kind soul or two! And feedback on my writing is always appreciated!
Hugs,
Kat

Date: 2014-03-20 10:03 pm (UTC)Glad to see another fan on the internet - I'm an old enough science fiction fan that my fandom began long before the net or the web ... got into organized fandom in 1977, read science fiction starting back in 1960 (yes, that does date me; I'm a very old broad), saw the First Doctor when the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation first televised him in 1965, liked Old Who when I could get it in the states when I moved here in the 1980s, and fell in love with New Who when it hit our shores in 2006. I'm 58, with grey hair, geek glasses, a son and husband who are almost as big fans as I am (my son has a TARDIS tattooed on his leg for heaven's sake) and ... am prone to running on at the mouth, as you can see.
So, again - Welcome! I'm going to love reading your fiction, and will gladly grant you access to my journal, too!

Date: 2014-03-20 11:06 pm (UTC)Thanks for the welcome and access! I'm going to love reading your stuff, too :-) How cool that you were into fandom so early! I'm (just about) 29 so I wasn't around in the early days, and I just got into (2005) Doctor Who in about 2011. It was the first show my now-husband and I watched together from the beginning and it is something we love to bond over. I have tried to watch the old series episodes and am ashamed of my Millennial impatience at their cheesiness and pace, haha. But I so love new Who that I often say the show's worldview is more or less the way I define my religion - even with plenty of darkness and monsters, there's an inherent optimism and wonder about the universe that I so connect with.
Anyway, nice to meet you and hopefully I'll get the hang of it around here and meet more folks and we can all run our mouths together! Also I kind of want a TARDIS tattoo, but I have 2 other tattoos and I think for now I'll stick with my geek glasses. They're just like Osgood's in Day of the Doctor! I swear, it wasn't on purpose...

Date: 2014-03-20 11:13 pm (UTC)I'll also have to get some sci fi recommendations book recommendations eventually...but I just started grad school so I said goodbye to a huge portion of my leisure reading time for two years. Oops.
